::Little Daphne Enters the Scene::

PSSSST...I'm no longer blogging here!
You can now find me at

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I think I've finally found the bottom of my wee table collection in the garage.
Just in time to make space for the 3 desks, 4 dressers and 3 side tables I've hoarded gathered here and there over the last week.

This is Daphne, all leggy and curvy and sah-weet.

In her previous incarnation, she was a tiny telephone stand, ready to bleed all over anyone who might dare to  dress her in something a bit more dazzling.

So I gave her a first coat of shellac.  She only wimpered at the beginning.

Then she relaxed and gave a big 'ole sigh when I added a couple coats of Annie Sloan's Provence (LOVE this color!)

Hand sanded her around the edges here and there....

As well as a gentle all over sanding with 320 grit so she was nice and smooth.

Waxed her best I could using Annie's soft wax.....

And I do believe she's forgiven me for giving her a makeover.  She's kinda high and mighty now, having had such special 'spa' treatment.  She's asking for hot stones now.  (shaking my head)

Daphne is one of the tables I had a really hard time getting the wax on evenly.
Her top was super shiny in some places, and totally cloudy in others.
I had to sand down her top and redo it.  I don't know what I did differently, but she's all even now :)

If you missed my previous post about my experience with chalk paint and wax, HERE 'TIS.  The comments are also enlightening.  I haven't given up yet, and thanks to a couple chalk paint retailers who read that post, I'm getting some new products in the mail to try this week, so look for more product reviews soon!

Daphne rooms with her sisters Evangeline, Lyssa,  Lori, Bess, Sabrina, and Bethany at The Serendipity House as they await adoption by their forever families.  4 of the girls have already packed up and gone, so if you're local to NE Indiana, there's three sisters still available!

Thanks for stopping over!  Would love to have you follow me with Bloglovin' or facebook....I blog for community, and love meeting new-to-me bloggers. :)

Daphne is bringing shrimp cocktail to the following parties, which will go live as soon as she makes her grand appearance: Masterpiece Monday, Make the Scene Monday, Amaze Me Monday, Be Inspired, The Inspiration Exchange, What We Accomplished Wednesday, Party Time, Power of Paint, Open House Party, Transformation ThursdaySimple and Sweet FridaysTutorials, Tips and Tidbits, Redoux Link Party, Feather Your Nest, Home Sweet Home, Be Inspired, Shabbilicious Friday, Catch as Catch Can, Inspiration Gallery, Furniture Feature, Inspire Me, Jumkin' Joe, Party Junk

Hi, Cindy - the table is just lovely - I adore the color and slight shabbiness. I do have a question for you - I read one of your posts from 2012 about Pinterest etiquette, and posting comments on blogs. If I do find an older project I like is it ok to post a comment to that blog post? I guess I always thought that once the date was past, the blogger wouldn't see the comments. Thanks.

This one is easily my favorite of the small pieces you've done so far. Sweet!

"She only whimpered at the beginning."

Don't we all, Daphne, don't we all.

LOVE the little table. So you coated the piece before you painted it? Did you use a poly coating? I am assuming that was to stop the bleed through? Great idea.

I have mixed feelings about the chalk paint, too. I am headed down to read your opinion/experience. xo Diana

Love that funky little table in that gorgeous color. I have tried chalk paint and must say that I am not a fan. I just don't like it and can't justify the expense. I'm glad you like it, though! Your transformations are lovely.

Cindy, I'm loving your table transformations... but I especially love that like me, you give your furniture names. Nice to know I'm not the only one who humanises everything - lol

I despise waxing. I have tried 3 different kinds, and I'm just not a fan. One problem is my bad shoulder. All that rubbing on and buffing off--kills me.
A lady I know set up at the same show I did last month, and I visited her booth, I couldn't keep my hands off her pieces of furniture. SOOO smooth! she makes her own version of chalk-like paint. so envious!
love your little table!!
