I'm trying to catch you up on recent do-overs, so today will also be a two-fer.  Ain't cha lucky?

Meet Penelope.  She went home with a customer from last month's Vintage Market.

Before....That mirror piece is detatchable.

Penelope also hides another secret...

Pull out her top drawer....

Drop the drawer front down...

And she becomes a desk!

I did Penelope's makeover using MMS milk paint in Kitchen Scale mixed 1:1 with Homestead Milk Paint "Combed Wool" (a warm white) to get this soft color. I also used the bonding agent.

Some distressing of course, and wax finished her off.

Can't wait to use this color again!

Next up is Brittany....with no before :(  Imagine just plain 70's wood.

I did a two-tone treatment using a DIY chalky paint color match for AS cream for the lighter color.

Brittany is so unique because her drawers can be viewed from all sides.

I did those in actual Annie Sloan Provence, dry brushed actual Annie Sloan Cream over that, and used a baby wipe to smear the two colors together....after they were dry.

Used the original hardware, which also got a coat of AS Cream with some light distressing.

Brittany is residing in her new home, and this week I'm painting up an antique caned chair in cream to match.

Meet Elinor.

Right out of a Jane Austen novel.

Elinor's before.

The glass was missing, so we just removed the door to use as something else down the road.

Like you do.

This is was my inspiration...from Heather Bullard's home I believe.

I used ASCP in Duck Egg for the interior, and a DIY chalky paint color match to AS Country Grey.  

It happens to be Sherwin Williams Relaxed Khaki.

 I also used American Paint Co.'s light antiquing wax on the outside, Maison Blanche on the Duck Egg.

Left the original hardware in Relaxed Khaki with no antiquing wax...you can see the slight difference the wax makes to the color on the doors compared to the hardware.

Elinor went to her new home after being listed for 20 minutes...

Think this color combo might be a hit :)

Last week I got so ding dang busy finishing pieces I had nothing left when it came time to blog.

So tonight, you'll get a smattering of some of the before and afters I've done in the last 10 days or so.

Boom.

#1 Glenda the Good Witch Dresser

(Hubs said I shoulda named her Elphaba 'cause she's green)

Before:

Went to the ReStore to get some tacky brass oval back plates because I ruined the original hardware.

Don't ask.

Knobs from Lowes.

After I shook my puny fist at Hob Lob for selling out of the vintage-look green ceramic knobs I'd picked out especially for this color. 

#2 Page the Plate Rack

Found at a resale shop.

Knew she'd be pretty in ASCP's Duck Egg.  

I was right.

#3 Janice (sister to Janie)

I had a customer buy Janie, and wanted me to paint her vintage bed to match.

Here's where Janice started....3 coats of peeling, glossy paint.  

She killed my mouse sander.

I'm sure she felt bad about it.

Used the same colors and techniques as I did with Janie.

For the raised decorative thingy, I used an artists brush with the white paint I used for the 4 corner posters to highlight them a bit.

See?  A matching set :)

Ta Da!  I've got a few more too, but they'll have to wait for another day.

I have some really exciting news regarding my baby business that I'll share later this week!  

Things are really taking off, much quicker than I expected, and way more rewarding that I anticipated :)

When I finally set my mind to painting furniture to sell, I sent out a shout out to friends and family requesting any old cast off furniture which I could use to brush up (literally) my painting skills.

And that's how I met Elizabeth.
She was in terrible need of a makeover.  She was very sad with peeling veneer, children's names etched in her top, and a not-quite-finished stripping job.

So I went to work sanding, filling scratches (and names), and peeled off the veneer on her sides and on her drawers and added some textured vintage-look wallpaper.

She was outright giddy when I let her pose in front of the three-way mirror.

I used Annie Sloan Duck Egg and Coco, sprayed her original hardware with Oil Rubbed Bronze, and waxed her with Maison Blanche clear wax.  Over the wallpaper I used polyacrylic.

I also lined her innards with some fabric.

I think she's divine all done up in her new duds.

Elizabeth is taking up more than her fair share of space in The Serendipity House, so any locals interested can give me a shout.

In the meantime, I'll be hauling her around to my favorite parties.  List of linkies show up when she shows up.

I think I've finally found the bottom of my wee table collection in the garage.
Just in time to make space for the 3 desks, 4 dressers and 3 side tables I've hoarded gathered here and there over the last week.

This is Daphne, all leggy and curvy and sah-weet.

In her previous incarnation, she was a tiny telephone stand, ready to bleed all over anyone who might dare to  dress her in something a bit more dazzling.

 So I gave her a first coat of shellac.  She only wimpered at the beginning.

Then she relaxed and gave a big 'ole sigh when I added a couple coats of Annie Sloan's Provence (LOVE this color!)

Hand sanded her around the edges here and there....

As well as a gentle all over sanding with 320 grit so she was nice and smooth.

Waxed her best I could using Annie's soft wax.....

And I do believe she's forgiven me for giving her a makeover.  She's kinda high and mighty now, having had such special 'spa' treatment.  She's asking for hot stones now.  (shaking my head)

Daphne is one of the tables I had a really hard time getting the wax on evenly.
Her top was super shiny in some places, and totally cloudy in others.
I had to sand down her top and redo it.  I don't know what I did differently, but she's all even now :)

Daphne rooms with her sisters Evangeline, Lyssa,  Lori, Bess, Sabrina, and Bethany at The Serendipity House as they await adoption by their forever families.  4 of the girls have already packed up and gone, so if you're local to NE Indiana, there's three sisters still available!
