When sadness comes.

I've been trying each day to find lovliness in my life...so much of it comes from looking thru my blogroll and hopping, skipping and jumping around this tangled web called the internet.  I see so much beauty, so much inspiration, so much love.

This morning, via this tool, I learned that a dear friend's son is losing his battle with luekemia.  He is 13.  She lost her husband at 30 to leukemia 4 years ago while living their dream serving the poor  in Byron Bay, Austrailia.  She had remarried, had another beautiful baby girl to add to the 3 beauties she already had, then her oldest got sick. The shock was unbelieveable.  After a year of chemo and a bone marrow transplant from his little brother, he went into remission only to have it reappear in June.  He contracted a virus during treatment this time that cannot be controlled any longer, so they are letting him go.

Funny how life shrinks in size when tragedy makes an appearance.  How all the stuff we deem important (like blogging or decorating or finding that great deal) become somewhat ridiculous in the face of the tidal wave of grief so many dear ones are asked to face.  So while solving decorating dilemas and haunting backrooms of consignment shops bring joy and beauty to my life, there are times I'm forced to stand back and ask....what's really important.  What is REAL joy?

My friends, I ask you to keep Jess and her son Alex and their family in your thoughts these next days.  I know there are so many, many people suffering in this world, so many others watching loved ones make the transition from life to death...but I ask for today that you think of this family.  And hug the ones you love today lots and lots.  Life has a sometimes annoying way of just going on after stuff like this, but I hope for my friend, her son, and their family that the rose of faith, hope and love will bloom again.

peace.

You are a sweetheart. There is indeed a lot of sorrow out there. That is why we should hang on for dear life to our precious Lord and Savior.
I will definitely remember this family.

Such a loving post. It is so true that saddness and grief are all around us and we do need to be reminded of what is really important. It's hard to understand how some are asked to handle so much. I know the Lord has them in His hands, and I will pray for them. God Bless all. Hugs, Marty

So sorry, as well, to hear that bad news. What a sad day that must be to have to make the decision to let such a young boy go. I cannot imagine that pain. They will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you will keep us posted.
