Last update for now....

I took the above shot with my iPhone on Saturday night, the last night I spent at the hospital
before coming home Sunday afternoon.

Mom is improving slowly, yet surely.  Her pain is still sometimes difficult to handle, but the docs are pleased with her recovery thus far.  She's been out of bed a couple times, and ate some toast and soup yesterday.  Though she was only supposed to be in ICU for two days, they've kept her there for almost 6, mostly due to no beds available in the progressive unit.  Today they will most likely move her to a regular semi-private room where she'll stay several more days.

It was an intense, but precious few days for me sitting by her bed.  Watching her in pain was NOT fun, but my doula experience certainly came in handy!  Makes me wonder if all that time I was preparing for this moment in time....

I'm just overwhelmed by the thoughtful, caring comments and emails I'm still receiving.  Please know your words are a balm to my heart.  I hope I can thank you by getting some cottage inspiration going again soon. :)

 (my family circa 2003)

And finally, I should mention my family will be taking off for Disney World on Friday, returning Sunday the 6th. It's the first time since the above picture was taken that all the kids (and spouses and boyfriends!) will be with us again.  I doubt I'll have anything to post about during that time, but maybe Cindy will give me a tour of her castle and an interview for the blog?

If not, I'm totally getting the name of her hairdresser.

 (me and Cindy-rella 2009)

I will definitely have Make it 4 Monday up this week and next, though.  Sorry for missing it this week....
I was, um, zonked.  Ya know, coughing zzzzz's.  Thanks for hanging in there with me.
I'll see ya on the other side of the World, with some new projects in the works.

Glad to hear your mother is recovering for her ordeal. She is lucky to have you there with her. I'm glad to hear you are going to Disney, it will help take your mind off things. It is so important to take of yourself when going through something like this. I learned that the hard way!

Have fun on your trip!! Laugh and enjoy!!

Oh Sweet Cindy...have a glorious trip! Your mama would want that for you! You need some down time also, to stay healthy yourself and for your family. Give "Cindy" my best and ask her how she stays so stinkin' youthful, will ha?
Looking forward to some new inspiration when you return, but take your time, serve your family first and we'll be okay with the leftovers! Keep your priorities right. Now more than ever!

I'm glad your mom is improving. I didn't know you were a doula! I think maybe, yes, that was in preparation for this. The Lord sometimes prepares us in ways we never expect.
Have a great time with your family! And take lots of pictures so we can all live vicariously through you.
(I'm pretty sure Cinderella's hairdresser is a bird. Or a flock of them.)

Glad they are moving your mom out of ICU. Although I, for one, think it is best to err on the side of caution and I am glad she had a couple of extra days there. Now, the next step to recovery can begin. I am keeping her in my prayers and all of you too.

I hope you have a wondeful time in Orlando. I love Disney...especially having the kids to enjoy it with-it really makes it special. I think you SHOULD do your hair like that...shall I send bleach? Hugs-Diana

You just take care of your sweet mama and those kiddos and don't worry about us here in Blogland, Cindy. Take that vacation and rest yourself. Oh, on Monday I put a link to your blog because on my Blogger Tips Monday I told about linking to other blogs through your regular blog, as you taught me. If that makes any sense. But I always like to tell folks when I use their links.
