PSSSST...I'm no longer blogging here!
You can now find me at
(trying to put on a happy face)
I'm only like half-way done with Christmas shopping and getting very quickly to the end of my patience with the task because my mommy brain cells aren't firing on all cylinders anymore. The sheer mental exhaustion of deciding WHAT to get someone, chasing it down at four different stores, then deciding on a color or size.....it's really wearing me out.
Someday I will get it together enough to have my decorating and shopping done by the 7th of December so I can focus on my favorite parts of the holiday, such as
baking yummies and
to the sounds of Johnny Mathis for the rest of the month.
Or better yet, to sit on my butt at the mall sipping a hot mocha latte watching all the other crazies running around in a shopping trance, which would be my rather twisted form of taking in the sights and sounds of the holidays :) Unfortunately, I'm among the ranks of crazies as usual.
And get this: I forgot 5 crafty things I had planned to do for GIFTS! I found the materials stashed under the shopping bags today when I went to wrap
junk all the thoughtful gifts I've purchased. YIKES. Guess I'll be squeezing in a few more dates with the sanding paper and mod podge before this thing is over.
I did have fun wrapping today, though. Because we aren't buying a ton of gifts for people this year, and I crafted about half of what we're giving, there won't be a whole lotta presents under the tree, so I'm trying to make each one unique.
I used a big ole roll of that white paper IKEA sells in the kids department (for the easels) for some presents and their tone on tone striped brown wrapping paper for others. I wanted neutral and white, with sneaky hits of black, red, gold, silver and green. I went for rustic juxtaposed with some bling and elegance.
You all do know when you can't determine your style it's called ECLECTIC CHIC. It can cover a multitude of sins, kinda like spray paint. It's all good.
Hope your evening is merry and bright.
I'm a'linking to Gina's Transformation Thursday ('cause you'd just about die if you saw what those boxes looked like under the wrapping paper!)
(Pssst: Linked to Melissa's Holiday Linky Friday, Wendy's Frugal Friday Linky Party, and Jane's Frugalicious Friday...hosted by Kathy this week)
Your packages are wrapped so pretty and oh, so creative. I would enjoy receiving a gift looking like one of yours.
Love love all the wrapping beauty!!!! Very festive. Thanks for again sharing your amazing talent with all of us.
Those presents are absolutely gorgeous! I can just imagine that what is inside is equally fitting. I am not even halfway done yet. I hate that you look and look for what a kid REALLY REALLY wants for Christmas or it will be ruined. Once you find it, that is just a passing phase and now there is something else that they REALLY REALLY want. Grrrr!
Can't wait to see what you got up your sleeve to make for gifts!
Hi Cindy, Your twisted holiday thoughts are really funny. You are not alone, my twisted holiday thought would be to head down to the mall and walk really slowly in front of last minute shoppers....... That'll teach them for starting so late!
I'm laid up right now with a bad back and if it manages to get better in time to finish the shopping I hope there aren't any crazies at the mall sipping lattes and laughing at me or trying to slowing me down.
Your packages look absolutely beautiful! Have a Blessed Christmas if I don't talk to you before then!
You are right, shopping for an entire family can be stressful and I love to shop. I love your wrapping. I am not good at all at wrapping so gift bags was the way I went. Except for the Grandchildren's gifts. They would sneak a look, so that is hubbys job;)
Capers of the vintage vixens
I totally agree! Shopping usually takes the wind out of Christmas for me for about two weeks and then I am ok again! Luckily, alot of the adults in my Family have decided to just buy for the kids and that suits me just fine! Kids are super easy! Adults, on the other hand... UGH! Hubby and I are giving each other Digital Readers this year! Hope we like them! Your presents are so pretty. Mine do not even have bows on them! I am trying real hard to just get them wrapped! Four kids and a large family! You can relate to that! Have a wonderful evening. Thanks, as always, for a good laugh!
i can see why you're worn -- you put a lot of love in your wrapping! now relax, huh?
Girl, you out did yourself! THe packages are beautiful! Love your photos. I thought for sure I'd be way ahead of the game this year, being off work and all, but I'm burning the midnight oil, and starting to feel a little panic. Let's shoot for the mall and lattes next year shall we?
Your presents look too nice to unwrap. I start very early, August and then come December I just have a few to get frantic about. I have to do this because I hate shopping. Beautiful photos and lovely blog.
great ideas .. the packages look wonderful .. one of my fav things about the holidays is wrapping the presents ..
Oh so pretty... I totally judge what is inside a gift by the wrappings! So, your gifts must be fabulous! ;o
These are so pretty, I think my favorite was probably one of the simplest though. I love the brown paper with three pink ribbons one :)
Wow ~ these are gorgeous! You really put my wrapping to shame. I start out great and then peter out and by the end of the pile as I grow tired and cranky!
Love all your packages...unique and individual...I haven't even started wrapping yet, but you've inspired me..thanks,
Stunning. The presents are amazing. I wouldn't even care what was IN them. I just like the outsides!
Hanging my head in shame here... the only present I bought is for my son that is currently buried under a blanket and a few coats in my truck. Classy.
Ok, funny you should ask about my balloon lanterns, because the more I read my post, the more I realize how much information I left out. I covered most the balloon with the napkin, but left the top part (where you blow up the balloon) free of napkin. This is the spot where I popped the balloon, and pulled it out. This is also where I was able to drop in my candle. Hope that helps! :-)
I love all your creative wrapping! :-) And I think that making gifts is a lovely thing to do for people.
Your packages look amazing. No one's going to want to open their gifts on Christmas. I love what you've done to make the trims stand out on the white and brown paper. Wonderful impact.
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog - like the tip about paper mache letters. I live in Canada and no Joanne's here. I know I must be able to find them somewhere - maybe Michaels or next time I hop over the border I'll visit Joannes. I have added you to my bookmark bar and will have to link up next Monday!
The presents are gorgeous, Cindy! You did a great job of wrapping everything with style. I am a terrible wrapper - maybe you will inspire me to do better this year!
I love all the pretty bows and such that you've added to the packages! I guess I should start wrapping presents. It's just one more thing to do on a very long list. As always thanks for the inspiration.
Your packages look so beautiful. I wouldn't want to open them. It's a great idea to use the roll of white paper from Ikea. You can use it anytime. I can't wait to see the goodies you're creating.
I'm with you! I plan on finding and wrapping all my gifts by this weekend. This will also help me figure out if I've missed someone. I made a lot of mine this year, too. I love the way you wrapped yours ~ I'm hoping to give some of my gift wrap some flair this year as well.
I haven't been able to make the rounds lately and boy have I missed alot here! Your gift wrapping is gOrgEoUs!!! just my style. I chose not to join the crazies this year...we are just giving money. BUT I do like to wrap a pretty present, so I wrapped the money in gift boxes. I used the brown bag IKEA paper and white paper ribbon IKEA, some silver sheer too. But that is a great idea about the art paper in the children's section of IKEA for wrapping. I will remember that next time. Because my favorite really is white! BTW the glimpses and peeks of your cottage is Oh so cute! I really like your style. Merry Christmas!
Oh wow! Such amazing wrapping skills! I do good to even take everything out of the shopping bag!
Very pretty! I hope one of those has my name on it! ;)
Girl, you need to order all of your gifts online! Amazon is your friend. :D I love the wrapping and bows! Thank you for stopping by on the home tour this week! :D
