Yesterday was a full day of creating for our family, starting with my boys and their DIY snowman and then spending most of the rest of the day making cookies at my friend Sheila's house. She's my daughter's Mom-in-law, and we've partied with her before. :)
Before we headed over to bake, though, I couldn't resist a few more pics around the yard, this time in appropriate attire. We'll consider this Mother Nature's contribution to the party this week, k?
The snowfall outside was the perfect backdrop while we listened to Christmas music play, watched the tree lights twinkle, and licked cookie dough off spoons. Sheila has the most BEA-U-TI-FUL view out the back of her home.....
On to the human contribution this week.
We had at least 2 recipes going at once as Sheila has two ovens. I made 3 kinds of bar cookies, Sheila made the roll-outs, and my girls made butter cookies using the press.
We had to do a bit of improvisation with those because I couldn't find the screw-on top for the press:
And the cookies were a bit, um, unique. Still tasted good and the boys had fun decorating them.
Here's one of my daughters squishing up nillas used for crust in a bar cookie recipe. She was going to town, releasing all the tension from the last week of college finals :)
Sheila helped my boys do some cut-outs after she rolled out the dough. Let me just say these are the most moist, light as a feather roll-outs I've ever tasted. Melt-in-your-mouth goodness....
Taking a break at lunch. Time for a facebook shot:
After lunch, I finished up with some no-bake chocolate truffles, and helped Sheila ice another batch of roll-outs as the boys had lost interest and were now outside sledding down the big hill.
Hot cocoa and Battleship. Fun was had by all.
I have no pictures of the finished sugar-goodness because we had to hurry a bit at the end in order to get to a dinner party that evening. But just suffice it to say, we all have more than enough cookies this season, and we had a blast making them together. Disclaimer: Much butter was harmed in the making of these goodies.

Have a Merry Christmas,
Pretty snow pics, and I LOVED seeing your baking crew. Brings back some great memories. Now my kids are adults living far away and I'm in my 2nd childhood - so Hubs I make and eat all the cookies ourselves. He-heee!
Almost didn't make it for the party today. The paint is still curing, but I'm here, and off to visit as many party-goers as possible.
Have a great day & thanks for hosting the party!
Hi Cindy!! Well, I'm so glad you posted cookie pics...because that is what I spent my weekend on. Haven't had much time for other projects...although the tree is almost all the way decorated. LOVE your snow pics.

I bought the sobo glue at Michael's.
