Repeat after me: Spray paint is your friend.

So I had this fantabulous entry light fixture, circa 1982:

I also had this Ballard Design catalogue with a couple pictures that gave me deja vu:

and

I also had a can of ORB spray paint.  Or three.
And a hubby who removes icky glass from 80's light fixtures.

And I gave myself a knock-off Ballard lantern:

I know.  Cuteness.

I also finished touching up the trim in this entry, the trim and walls in my cra(p)ft room, and burned a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich.
It was a rather good day considering.

Room reveals coming soon.

cindy,
this is what i love about blogland. creative genius and spray paint in one fell swoop! your entry light doesn't even look like a distant cousin to the circa 1982 (btw the year i got married). i am in awe of the makeover.

Yes..sirree spray paint is da bomb! I am frantically trying to prep things for the "no spray painting season". Cold weather is not a friend to spray paint.

Love it- It looks pretty darned close to the Ballard one! Amazing how everything that goes around comes around again in one form or another, isn't it? Nice to see you posting and I'll look forward to seeing what you have been up to! xo Diana

I'm a little amazed at how much more current it looks now. I have one~I should just take out the glass and paint it!

Cool, Cindy!

It's amazing what a can of spray paint can do. I did not see that cute light fixture coming. I thought you were showing it and then replacing it and about to show us your new one. It looks just as great as the ones in Ballards!

I look through those catalogs and find many ideas to use things I already have. Love your light fixture update, it DOES look just like Ballards! Great idea to update what you had already. Looking forward to your reveals!

Oohhh, I just saw a light like yours on Craigslist...and thought to myself. That is so outdated. And, then I see yours and it is stunning. Looks just like Ballards! I love getting inspired!

Oh, my. I about jumped out of my chair to see my ugly entryway light on your blog! It's just genius to take the glass out and paint it ORB! I'll be doing that this weekend. Thanks!!!
