A Last Winter Mantelscape.

Hubby and I sat down to watch a movie last night, and I decided to light all the candles on the mantel...don't you think candles should be lit?  I do, but rarely take the time.  I was struck by how beautiful the beast looked all lit up in a soft glow, and took some parting shots of a winter's evening in candlelight.

Here's hoping spring will, uh, spring upon us soon and I can tuck away winter's beloved neutral whites for some happy greens and pinks and soft beachy blues.

Dried gourds and hydrangea blossoms...

Collection of whites in the antique corner hutch...

It was nice to snuggle in one last time, and appreciate the quiet beauty of a winter's evening...

How 'bout you?  Ever want to give Old Man Winter one last hurrah before showing him to the door?  He's done his job this year, for sure and for certain, but I like gentle goodbyes.

I like a gentle goodbye too BUT I am afraid he is not ready to leave quite yet!
I am still predicting one more snow before it is over here in the NE!

Ready though for the weekend ... it is supposed to be in the 50's this weekend!
Time for some yard work...
Since we did not move in till November... I did not get much done in the yard yet... but I am so excited to at the very least rake!!
Enjoy the weekend Cindy!

Such a beautiful fireplace! I've been giving thought to turning the gas off in my fireplace but I'm hoping to use it a couple more times this winter. I used to wish each season would come and it seems the older I get the less I wish for time to pass quickly. Although I am tired of gray so our sunny days of late have been wonderful.

The scene is dreamy, but I would be ready for spring. Winter has been a very long time. Your fireplace and mantel is just gorgeous. Hugs, Marty

Cindy, Your fireplace vignette is so lovely. I do like to light my candles, but seldom do too. My kitties and I seldom get romantic around here! But when I entertain, I always use candles. Cozies up the place and hides some of the shabby!
We're in for a nice springy weekend, I'm so excited to see the sun again too!
Happy snuggling! Sherry

So...the name 'Cindy' means light? Thanks for the compliment. Always enjoy myself at your blog and your little 'glow' vibe going on here.

Gorgeous, Cindy! I love your mantle. It's so beautiful all aglow.
But I have to admit that I am not going to be gentle to Mr. Winter. He's has worn out his welcome in these parts, and I am sending him a hardy "goodbye"!
:) Bring it on, Spring!

I love winter and I really don't want to see her/him go. But then, I do live in Cali where it doesn't get too cold. Spring is my least fav. season because allergies are horrible here in the valley! We are known as the city of trees which means lots of blossoms and pollen. Your candle light is beautiful. Hey, those are your new lanterns you won, right?

I think I know what escru dish set you're talking about at IKEA...and if I do, it is the set that I have and love! Yes, get them, you will too.

Hi Cindy,
I am looking forward to spring but am more patient then usual-probably because I have some indoor projects to finish before I move out to the garden. Also,we have had a milder winter with less snow then usual.
Love your candlelight scene and I enjoyed my visit here.
I am honored you shared my stairway on your sidebar-thank you.
Enjoy your weekend,
Carolyn

I think your movie night mantel was so peaceful and serene. I certainly hope Old Man Winter is done with my neck of the woods, my carrots and wax beans are sprouting! My roses think spring is here also. And, the redbuds are about to bloom. Life is so good!

I am ready for spring too girl. I have my foyer table already spring but haven't taken down the mantle winter stuff until I know for sure Mother Nature has decided to play nice.

Wow, stunning! Your whites are breathtaking and play so well with the rustic woodsy touches. I'm itching for those stars, girlfriend. I may have to make some and give you full credit. :)

I mowed the lawn for the 2nd time just yesterday. We are well beyond winter here.

However will we all blog outdoors in the spring? Do they make computer screens for bright sunlight?!?
