We finally bit the bullet and got ourselves a flat screen TV. We've had a beast of a set for years now, and I was just sick and tired of trying to find an appropriate spot for it. The color was kinda going on it too, so we saved our nickels and dimes and got the flat screen for Christmas. We also bought a PS3, which also functions as our DVD player.
Can I just say that I hate cords? Thanks.
Here's my solution to hiding the stuff.
I've had this little side table since I was a little girl. The PS3 fits almost perfectly in that lower shelf. But not the *&#^((*$ cord.
So. I let hubby cut a hole in the back. It was hard to hear that saw doing its work, let me tell you. But it helps make the whole 18th century 'entertainment center' work.
Yeah, it's quirky. I don't care. I'm quirky. Here's the whole thing (haven't froufied the whole area yet, but that's the story of my life.)
The dresser is wicked old too, and was in my bedroom growing up as well. So now the two pieces are back together again. Ain't that sweet. We store all the DVDs in the drawers.
So my 'entertainment center' sorta-kinda fits with the rest of my decor. Sorta-kinda.

I had to come up with something for ours, too. Found an old cabinet at auction for $5.00 and it houses the DVD player, the cable box, the VCR and lots of DVDs. We do what we can!

Great solution that didn't cost a dime. We have our flat-screen on an antique dresser, also. You can't see the cords, either!
I love the dresser...I really like the combining of high tech and rustic. The "entertainment center" is a great solution!{There's always wood fill}:)

I think the furniture looks wonderful together, like an old married couple with lots of shared love and experiences between them.
Being one of your newer followers I may be taking a risk saying this *LOL*, I think some furniture has such a history that it's like having family around. Like with family, we just accept the beauty and ignore the blemishes.
I believe it was hard to hear hubby cut into that great piece of furniture, but it was worth it, it looks great! We too have always had such a hard time with "what do we do" with our DVD player, Wii, and stereo system, yet being able to hide cords and still make the house look nice. I haven't found a great way yet that works with our system, still looking. :)

What's worse (or more challenging I should say) is that we don't have cable or dvd players.. We have a computer tower in our living room. We hulu and netflix everything we watch, so I have to find some way to hide (and vent) a huge computer tower. UGh.... I hope a buffet or credenza will do the trick...

Very cool little side table! My "entertainment center" is so sad. I don't even want to show it. I love your set up though.
OMG I suffer from cord anxiety too. SO much that I made hubby mount the TVs and buy the wall cord covers that can be painted so they mathc the walls. his man room is still a mess but the bedroom and LR are cord free. Table = LOVE IT
it works, it works. Okay, this spring I really have to redo my childhood dresser and nightstand. They're painted . . . and painted . . . and, you get it. So the whole strippin' thing, yuk. But maybe I can coerce Hubs.
You've inspired me - again. I want my kiddie stuff to look cute in my house, too.

Last year, I let hubby buy a massive TV. I hate how big it is, he loves it. To go with it, we bought a Better Homes & Garden tv stand. Here it is, not quite a year later, and it's falling apart.
I'm hoping to do something similar to you- I want to find a dresser of some sort for the TV, and a table for the video game paraphernalia.

How awesome is this project. The pieces are beautiful and full of memories. I can imagine how it hurt to hear the saw ~ OUCH! I love repurposing. It is as eco-freindly as you can get and that will always be classic ~ ALWAYS!

What a interesting little table. I don't think I have ever seen one like it. You've used it in a very clever way and I love the dresser under the TV as well.
