Enough of that....on to some little decorating projects I'm working on this week.
Remember these pretties?
Behold. This princess receives her first coat of paint. With a brush mind you, as spraypainting doesn't work when it's 20 degrees outside. Oy.
She's got some pretty curves!
Here's her two long, lost sisters, picked up from a friend and awaiting their makeovers. And a clump of Bogart hair for finesse:
Here's some of the others....I added a monogrammed burlap piece in the top window of the one.Even more. Yes, heirloom white. Loveliness in a can.
I'm thinking of hanging the bigger ones in my hallway, and the smaller ones as a collage going up the stairs. I plan to glaze them a bit too. Maybe. We'll see how it goes. I know you understand. :)
I've also been collecting and playing with empty frames:
Thinkin' I might use these on my dining room wall and put the kids artwork and papers from school kinda inside them without them being officially 'framed'. Make sense? Keeping most of these wood, but might paint a couple black or white. Again, just depends on my mood....
I also sewed up some pillows for my double rocker....though currently I'm deciding whether to sell it as I don't really have a place for it. So the pillows went on the couch for now.
See how the pleats will play nicely with the pleats on the skirt of the rocker?
I used unbleached muslin, which looks alot like linen, which looks alot like the canvas dropcloth fabric I used for the cushion and skirt above. Which is nice.
I also forgot to show you the new table Hubs and I got. Here's a shot of it in the showroom, er, clearance warehouse of the furniture store (Klopfenstein's for you locals). We got it about 80% off because it's their last one and they're discontinuing this style. Still spent more than we planned, but it's heirloom quality.
I LOVE those chairs, and the deep stain. Very rustic country, and will go with other antique pieces I have.
Double trestle, but very 'clean'. Has a butterfly leaf so I will be able to have all my brood of chicks and their significant others at the table all at once.
Although I dream of someday having a bleached antique farm plank table with chippy painted legs and an assortment of different chairs.....I took Funky Junk Donna's advice and went for FUNCTION first. These are heavy, solid oak chairs in a timeless country/cottage style that I can dress up with slipcovers or dress down in burlap. It fits well in my nook (once we take out the railing) and looks lovely with the blue/grey paint on the walls...so lovely that I've decided not to repaint that room.
I will show you it in it's new home soon. I'm still froufifying. Yep.
Well, I'm off this afternoon to Jayme's to visit her and the girls:
Tomorrow we travel together to Jen's bloggy get together. I try to take lots of pictures. I said 'try'. Don't get your hopes up.
Oh yeah! Forgot to say:

mirrors are wonderful! i am sad because i cannot find HW paint anywhere locally!

I adore that table Cindy! The chairs look a lot like the antique ones at my grandma's house, I love their high backs.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy valentines day!
Blessings, Melissa
Great job on the mirrors Cindy!! Can't wait till you show more pics and your great talent.
Happy Valentine's

I love the mirrors in white! You could consider distressing instead of glazing. I did that with my gold fake mirror and that gold peeking through the edges looks really good (I have a picture of it on my blog).
You have been busy, and things are looking really good.
Happy Valentine to you too
OH Sweet Baby Jesus I am DROOLING over those mirrors and the monogram burlap i can't wait to see it.
I just want to cry in envy. Who needs a farmhouse table with eclectic chairs when you can have yours?!?!?!
Oh girl, that's gorgeous. It'll never go out of style. Ever.
Loving your empty frame idea theme you're going after. And the mirrors! Good golly, I think there was too much goodness in one post. If that's possible.
Thanks for the awesome eyecandy. Have a blast kinda weekend! You sure know how to do it up right!
Donna
Off to Jaymes? Oh, I am so jealous. Would love to hook up with you Indiana gals someday! Have fun without me.
That first mirror you painted is way too cool! It is gorgeous! I will wrestle you for it! :)
Like your new dining set. Looking forward to seeing your mirrors and frames. I was going to do a group of white framed mirrors on my stair wall a while back. Got one done and decided there was to much dark wood in that area and did not think mine would look right.
Enjoy your get together and take pictures. :)
Love all the mirrors Cindy. Can you say SCORE?!
Great choice on the table and chairs, IMO, classic shapes and I'm very fond of that chair style.
I hope to one day meet some bloggy friends. Have lots of fun. Happy Valentine's too.
Cindy,
So glad YOU are back and in your element! I love your mirrors. How long did it take to accumulate that collection? Can't wait to see it all in place. FYI your pillows? I saw these selling for $75 a pair! Beautiful job. Enjoy the weekend.
Deborah
I just finished a mini mirror tray and you are so right about the spray painting. Does not work so well in the cold! Takes forever waiting for a glimpse of warmth and sunshine. Love the way yours turned out with brush on.
Those pleated pillows are to die for. Love em. I'm a pleat and pin tuck kinda woman. Add a bit of embroidery to either of those and I've won the lotto.
Lovely things. Wish I were going to Jayme's with you! Have a great time!
oops.. hit wrong button, will try again.
LOVE the table, beautiful. Can not wait to see the mirrors and frames in place. Pillows are gorgeous.
Cindy, that dining set is to die for. and I love your white mirrors. I wonder how many (guilt) gilt frames I have passed up cause they were so ugly. You have transformed them to beauties. Lovely! Sherry
I love how you decorate. Your new dining set is awesome. Just like you said...heirloom quality.
Nancy
It all looks really nice. I am really loving the frames painted...They definitely have some very nice curves! The couch looks great & I also love the table!! 80% off...wow killer deal!

Great things going on at your home! So your Jayme's guest. You should have a great stay we saw how she was getting her home ready for her visitor. I am jealous, I will be home cleaning house and looking out the window at the snow. Hope you have a great time!
Great table! And I am with you, that is the kind of table I want someday too, but not until I am done doing daycare, lol!
As far as the nasty comments, I agree with the other posters, look at how many followers you have, 'nuff said! Whenever you receive a negative comment, just remember it's probably because they wish they could be more like you:)
Blessings,
Cara
love your blog!!! i'm posting your button for sure!!!lol
Cheers

Beautiful mirrors. they reminded me of one I gave to my daughter for her place and so I paused mid blog to call her and catch up. But back to the mirrors, they are so classic and should be great grouped together. My daughter painted hers lime green. I know, I thought uck too but I ended up really loving it. It is timeless, young and fresh all at the same time. My daughter also did a wall display with empty frames and they had a party where all the "guests" brought "art" and they all voted on what to put in the frames. The reason for the " ", my daughter is 21 and in college. Need I say more.
Hi Donna,
I love the frames in white, they look really delicious. BTW the table was a good idea, I have Target slipcovers on my dining chairs and they become Shabby Chic. Good luck with everything.
The Swedish Room
The table and chairs are just wonderful! Love all those mirrors. Paint really brings out all the wonderful details! I know, won't it be nice when it's warm and we can spray paint again! The last time I painted I mirror I had to do it be hand and it was work!
Happy Valentines Day!
Manuela
