This time a dresser I picked up for a song at a junk shop my dad found. I named her Janie. Just because.
She started out life with a bad staining/glazing job. Poor thing.
I mixed up some DIY chalk paint using SW Creamy for the white, and then for the drawers I used SW Comfort Gray on the first layer and Oyster Bay over that.
Mercury Glass knobs from Hob Lob. Totally make the piece, IMO.
I did the petroleum jelly resist technique, which is easy, but kinda messy. It's a good way to get the bigger 'swipes' to pull off though. Candle wax does the same, but it's better for just the edges.
I lined her innards with some coolio scrapbook paper...just in the middle.
I think she looks beachy and marvelous now.
Janie is available at The Serendipity House for any locals (within 2 hours of Fort Wayne IN).
But she'll also be looking for dance partners at some weekly link parties, which will be posted when she arrives with her bean dip.

You're right - those knobs (huh huh) take it from beautiful to spectacular. It should be gone in no time.
so pretty, and those knobs are amazing with it!
Pretty and soft! I love the knobs too.
SW Creamy has been a favorite of mine for a while but I recently painted my bedroom with SW Greek Villa and I'm addicted to that.. for now!
I am one of those folks that thinks waterfall furniture is hideous in it's natural state. It looks INFINITELY better painted!! Now...I need more info on the vaseline resist technique!
Oh my goodness, this is so stunning!!! LOVE the color and the finish!
She looks so nice all gussied up with mercury knobs and all! I really like how she turned out. I have seen some of those dressers. Their shapes certainly give away their age, don't they? Great job, Cindy- xo Diana
Such a nice job! Love her new look.
Gorgeous!!! Those knobs are to die for - I just posted a makeover I called Abigail - could be Jane's cousin really lol
Happy 4th of July

She's beautiful! I can't paint worth a darn. Judy picked up an old dresser for $20 for me. Went without one for over a year. Thinking about painting it, but it isn't in very good physical shape. The knobs are messed up and have messed up the screw holes so you can't tighten them. Sure wish I lived close by so I could get one of your beauties.

I love the soft colours you chose that make the knobs pop.
Lovely! I think during my post college years decades ago the chifforobe I bought for $5 at an auction was the same style. If I had only known...
