Stuff. Lots of it.

PSSSST...I'm no longer blogging here!
You can now find me at

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the deal:  I have waaaaay too much junk.  And I mean 'junk' in the nicest way possible.  The "Omaga... I have to have this piece of junk" kind of way.  Like seriously beautiful, wearing their age like a crown junk.  Things I had great plans for, but zero time for. Things I think I'll shed a tear for as it leaves the premises.

Then there's the seasonal or crafty or whathaveyou stuff that I'm just tired of.  Or don't want to store anymore.  Garage sale stuff.  You know what I mean.

But..... I need it out of my house/garage/shed/attic.  I'm once again needing to streamline and declutter my life in order to make room for the stuff that really makes my heart sing....I need to work with what I've got, make it fit my lifestyle and space. Give place to those pieces and things that help me order my life and do my job as a wife, homeschool mom and friend.   I simply don't have the room to store all the odds and ends I have stashed in corners.  And I just think I have too much stuff.  It makes me feel a bit guilty, actually.

I don't have a booth in an antiques shop or flea market.  I don't live on a farm where I can open up my barn.  I live in a no-basement cape cod in boring old suburbia at the end of a cul-de-sac.  Though I'd really love to take a shot at doing a glamorized 'junk shop' garage sale....something more than just throwing stuff all over tables and calling it good... really giving folks who love junk a chance to hear the melodies the pieces sing and find out if that song resonates....not just a 'hey will ya take a quarter for this?' kind of sale....

it ain't gonna happen this year

What is gonna happen is a blog sale.  Deborah from The Fairfield House is hosting a blog sale linky party, so I figgered I'd give it a shot.  So, I'm taking pictures and pricing my crap glorious junk and posting it here.  There's a picture up top on my sidebar that will take you directly to the page listing what's available. I'm adding more stuff each day.  I'll work out shipping and do a big mailing once a week till it's all gone.

Sound good?  Ok, then get shopping.

Featured Links from the Great Blue & Brown Blog Bonanza.

What I loved about this link party was the variety of styles represented using blue and brown.  It's so classic, it can meld with everything from trendy to traditional, frenchy to flea market-y, cottage to coastal.  Timeless.
There were of course so many great links.  Thanks everyone for sharing your particular way of mixing these two colors in your homes!

And now for some features.  Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms, some furniture, and some decor.  All different styles. You guys have serious cottage instincts.

Modern Country Style has it goin' on in her master bedroom....who wouldn't want to snuggle into that blue and brown goodness?

Richella @ Imparting Grace also shows us how blue and brown mingle in awesomeness for her master bedroom.  LOVE her fabrics....check out the adjoining bathroom while you're over there.

Amanda @ A Lovely Place to Land shared her closet office.  Check out the Ball jar light!  She added lots of personalized, creative touches with thrifty finds too.  That wall color?  Sah-weet.

Polly @ Sassafras Stuff is one of my favorite bloggers....her style is right up my alley.  Check out her guest room of blues and browns....that just happens to house this amazing piece. Swoon.

Desiree @ Just Another Day in Paradise shared her beachy cubes.  The deep chocolate with the pale blue cubbie shelf and beigy walls adds up to yummy in my book. Check our her master bedroom too....

Anita @ Going a Little Coastal showed off her new bathroom re-do.  She used my favorite blue and brown color combo...sand and sea.  Ahhhhh.....

Cassie @ Primitive and Proper did up this dresser in blue and deep brown wood goodness.  I love every.single.piece this gal does.

Sharon @ Elizabeth and Co. also has a beachy blue and pale brown bathroom I fell in love with.  Look at this hutch she has in there!

Leslie @ Farm Fresh Fun didn't think she had much blue and brown in her house, but look at this sweet little vignette...does is get any better than an aqua blue basket, vintage brown suitcase, and natural wicker?  Um, no.

Hilary @ sweet as june has this AMAZING pale blue cabinet.  Are you drooling yet?  Well, she got it for FREE!  NOW I know you're drooling!  I love how it blends with the pale green walls and the tan throw pillows.

Melanie @ Oops! Redone... tells all in her dresser makeover.  Isn't the color gorgeous?  With just a hint of the original brown wood peeking thru....ahhhhh.

Angie @ Echoes of Laughter found serenity in her perfectly coordinated steel blue and beigey brown master bedroom. Who wants that pillow?  (me! me! me!)

Margitta @ white as linen.  I don't have words for this room.  Just go stare at the blue and brown perfection.

Thanks again to everyone who linked up!  I'll be back tomorrow with a giveaway announcement and some other news to chew on.  :)

Last autumn as I was just getting into the blogging world, everyone and their dog were linking up these terrific halloween/fall vignettes and decor.  I had never really invested much time or money into such things because
a) I am never organized enough to plan such things and
b) I hadn’t come up with a good excuse for my hubby explaining why I was throwing  cash at orange plastic stuff…
IMG_3269
But now I have all of you to decorate for (‘cause lord knows I never entertain) and motivate me to get posts ready to par-tay.
This year I had just way too much fun pulling out my 2 bins of fall-ish-ness from last year.  Way too much fun.  I need a life.
IMG_3267
So here’s some shots of my fireplace mantel.  (you don’t see the molded gourd.  No you don’t.) You must understand that fall is the ONLY time I love my fireplace.  It fits with the rustic cottage look I’m going for this season.  You know, dead things and plastic leaves.
IMG_3275
BUT, this puppy is getting a makeover next month….just in time for the holly-days. As is the entire room.  The pictures say it all.
IMG_3281IMG_3283
I’m determined to lighten the feeling of this room with as little money as possible.  We will mostly use pry bars and paint brushes.  Maybe a hammer and some panels of some sort.  Some chippy corbels and distressed pieces.  The usual.  Caw Caw.
IMG_3274IMG_3276
So fall is the last hurrah for this countrified space.  I hope by Christmas, it will have a more refined, modern cottage feel.  We shall see now, won’t we?
  IMG_3272IMG_3265
I have a thing for twiggy wreaths.  Not sure why.  I like burlap too.  Not sure why. And turning some pictures black and white.  Not sure why.
IMG_3277
Oooops.  This is the other corner, where the corner cabinet used to stand.  Not my mantel.  Obviously.  But tell me the plastic pussy willows look cool, yes?
IMG_3278
Here’s to a happy fall.  And my fireplace’s last ‘before’ shot.

Welcome to this week's episode of Mi4M!  So glad you came :)

So here's the rules.  Gotta have rules.  Well, you don't gotta, but it helps keep me sane.  Here ya go...
Pretty please with Little Debbie Oatmeal Cakes on top, only link:
DECORATING PROJECTS
FOR THE HOME
That means no recipes, no clothes, and no crafts unless it will be used
FOR MAKING YOUR (or someone else's) COTTAGE LOOK OR FUNCTION BETTER.
If you're not sure, email me.
Yes, I will delete posts that don't color within the lines.  Yes, I delete links every week.  Makes me feel like a meanie, but alas, I will do it again this week if need be.

Also:  Please visit some other partiers and leave some comment love....if you just link and run, it feels a bit rude.  Just sayin'.
Oh, and: Please add a link back here or my button to your post so others can find their way here.  Again, if you just link and run, it feels a bit rude. (Yep, again, just sayin'.)

Oh yeah, and there's still time to party over at:
