I spent the better part of this week trying to finish up painting, sanding and/or glazing, then scraping paint off my collection of mirrors for my stairway collage. Suffice it to say, I'm tired of looking at myself. *snicker*
I also managed to do the same treatment to some other items I will be hanging here and there....
Then I traced around all the mirrors onto some IKEA wrapping paper, cut them out, and used painter's tape to play around with arrangements. First, though, I laid them out on the floor, to get a starting place.
Here's the arrangement I'm living with for a day or so to be sure I like it:

I have a couple other little pieces to this puzzle that must be worked out as well....and all because of a party I'm throwing on Sunday for this little gem:
My youngest baby girl made her appearance in Dallas TX 16 years ago today.
Happy birthday Gracie!
Funny how company gets you in gear to finish long languishing projects, eh? What projects are you working on at the last minute? Tell me I'm not alone.....

Love you collection of mirrors...they all look so unique. Can't wait to see them up!
We are thinking of putting our house on the market in the next couple of weeks. And we just barely got the idea a week or two ago.
So last minute projects are all we have!
Gotta run....painting to do...things to clean...
Love the mirror arrangement!
Oh! I am loving these pretties! The color is fabulous! I do this all the time!~ decorate is a hurry for a special event! I have made some really nice changes this way!
Beautiful mirrors. How sweet of you to want to work on the house to prepare for your daughter's special night. Company is always my greatest motivator, also.
Yeah sign me up for the club too. I am just wondering how much I can get done before the hubby gets home from Florida! I might get a couple of extra days if he flys direct to his meeting in Boston though! Woohoo! Love the collection of mirrors. I think the round one needs something though. Maybe some etching around the edge? It just looks out of place to me next to the others. You could try some paint in a pretty stencil. I know, add more to the project!
this looks like it will be a winner!!! great idea! I would love to do something like this! btw, yes, I am always doing a project "for" an event and having those self-imposed deadlines. So much so, that when I decided to paint a room, my husband asked, "what party was it that I was having"! :)
Your mirrors are beautiful! My little girl's birthday is today too. She's only 26!
Great collection of mirrors! I have been busy making things for a floral swap so I have not had much blog reading time. Today though since hubby left early I have made some reading time!
Oh Cindy, this is going to look fabulous!! I just love the layout! Can't wait to see it finalized.
Happy Birthday to Gracie!! She is such a beauty! I wish they would stay little longer though! Mine are 17 and 20! Where does the time go???
Lou Cinda :)
I can NOT wait to see them put up!
You are not alone! I admire you for making patterns to see what you like. I usually make about 100 nail holes moving them around..I need to work on that. The mirrors are so pretty & Gracie I'm sure will really appreciate it!
Cindy is rocking her blog!!!! Love this post girl, it is going to be spectacular!!! Can't wait to see the photos when they are up. Really Cindy is there anything you can't do!! Its cute that we both have a "Gracie" yours is a beauty just like her mama!
Have an awesome weekend

I am loving those paper pieces on the wall and am using my best little kid imagination to see it as mirrors and you know what? It looks amazing in my mind. I can't wait to see it all done..

We are totally after the same thing in our stairwells! Did you see my post called "loving this?" oh man, there is a picture of a wall collage w/ mirrors very similar to the ones you are re-doing!! It looks so fabulous ~ yours is going to look amazing! Love the pattern you came up with!
Shellagh
This looks amazing
I bet it will be awesome...my girls would never make it anywhere if those mirrors were on our stairs...
Aw. My youngest turns 16 today. Time flies...
The mirrors are just gonna look awesome. You are a tres smart girl for you layout idea....first! Awesome tip for us gals. Enjoyed my visit! Will be watching!
Those mirrors are gorgeous. So smart of you to hang the paper versions on the stairway wall and live with them a while. I tend to be too spur of the moment and I've lived to regret that. You are inspiring me to be a bit more methodical when I hang things.
Happy Birthday to your daughter!

OMG. This is going to look so good!! I can't wait to see the end result. I love how you mapped it out with brown paper- wonderful idea.
Your daughter is a cutie! Tell her Happy Birthday!!!
You've been busy! Having company can inspire a whole flurry of activity around my place!
Wow Cindy you have been BUSY!! I love that you took the time to make templates first. You know, that is a great idea. I would never think of that....too impatient! But, next time I do a wall grouping, I hope I remember this, cause, in the long run, that has to be a major timesaver and stress reducer!!
Your mirrors look awesome painted! Good job girl!
hugs,
Polly
You are definitely not alone. Company always does the trick. I usually means my house gets cleaned for a chance, that is if I don't start a project first.
Do it every time, get in trouble because of it every time too. But at least this way the projects get done.
Love the look of your mirrors, looks very promising.
Cindy,
This is exactly what I want to do! Unfortunately, I have not been as lucky as you in finding any. However your post encourages me to continue my search. Thank you for the idea of tracing them out and hanging the pattern beforehand. Very clever, especially when you have plaster walls.
Happy birthday to your baby girl. Your children are equally beautiful.
Deborah
I think the mirrors are going to look so good on that wall. I love the paint job you did on them. I have to tackle a big counter space before our company comes tomorrow night. It's my "junk" counter that always seems to get full of a bunch of STUFF.
your mirrors look stunning.........it'll reflect so much light in that hallway.....how great.....
i've always wanted to do a hallway of mirrors -
very nice!
and btw.......I totally KWyouMeant.....on my linen post......I was just doing research - and I fully understand the implications of losing factory jobs - my family in MI, thrived on Ford.
Cute. Smart. I am glad I found ya! I am featuring you today in my Friends Friday. Have a great weekend!
wow! the mirrors look great! I love how you're test driving them first! :)
It's going to look awesome! Don't you hate trying to take pics of mirrors?
Happy Birthday to your baby girl!

Oh Cindy, this is going to look beautiful! I can't wait to see them put up! Did you paint that ceiling tile as well? Is it old or did you just paint it to look old. Love it!
Congratulations on your daughter's 16th - she's a sweetie!
