I finished something. Believe it or not...

Hello Faithful Readers.  I miss you!  I almost forgot to take 'after pics' of this furniture do-over I have been working on for a friend's friend.  But then I was like, *thunk*, I have a decorating blog.  So out came the camera and I snapped a few shots.

Here's the before: It's a family heirloom, a dining cabinet.

At the last minute they threw in this little side table too:

Let me just say that painting furniture in the middle of your living/school room isn't dandy.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Anyway, they were sanded a bit, then I used some liquid deglosser, primer, several coats of paint, a coat of stain wiped on and wiped off, then a few coats of polycrylic.

It was a lot more work than I expected, little nooks and cranies, the turned legs, etc.  But they turned out pretty I think.  Although I used satin paint, stain, and polycrylic, the finish still has quite a bit of sheen.
You don't see all the crap supplies on my floor.

Here's the side table:

I tried to get a close up of the paint job with the stain, but I couldn't smack my macro setting into behaving.

So, that's all I've managed to do the last couple months.  Hubs is ready to start on the boys' rooms again.
Me?
I'm all about looking for any sign of spring.
Does a plethora of fat mother robins making a pit stop in my back yard this afternoon count?
Oh heck yeah.

Is that a barn red? I love anything red and antiqued!

BTW, yes a robin sighting is definitely a sign of spring!

The paint job look fabulous!

And, yes, robins mean spring! They woke me up this morning for the first time this year, and I was actually happy about it (we'll see in a couple weeks if I'm throwing my cats outside when it happens though!).

So glad to see you back and working on something for a friend. Love it!

Me, too, looking hopefully out the window each day and checking the weather often, hoping for a miracle, I guess. Did a post today comparing how the yard looks today (disaster) and how it looked early fall.
Yearning for spring....

Hi Cindy! Great transformation and I am so impressed you painted in the house. If it was me I'd have paint all over the carpet, floor, furniture, etc. Nice to see you!

That really brought them into this decade! Pretty!
I saw a meadowlark the other day. I actually cheered, even though the poor thing was flying around while it was snowing.

I did my kidney bean coffee table this dark red (Colonial Red) and I love it and was thinking about doing my kitchen table the same color since both rooms are completely connected and open to each other. Now I'm REALLY thinking about doing it red instead of the matte black I've been planning....Hmmmmm....

Hi Cindy,

Love the bright color that you painted your furniture! I would love to see where you decide to put these pieces and how it fits in with the room you have it in. Bet it will look gorgeous!

Been thinking about you! I feel like I've stepped outside for the first time in a year and I'm rubbing my eyes in the sunshine. What the heck is going on? Feel so 'inside myself' lately. Miss the livin' hell out of you. For reals.

Nice to see a post! You have been busy, girl. That is one cheery color that was chosen for those pieces. You'd better show us the room your friend's friend puts them in! Spring? It can't come soon enough for us mid-westerners, can it? The mourning dove outside our study is cooing away and I've seen some pretty birds making their way into the woods behind us. Now, if the sun and the warm weather would just make an appearance.... Hope your mom is doing well. :-) Sue
