Christmas Vignette

PSSSST...I'm no longer blogging here!
You can now find me at

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Rhoda of Southern Hospitality fame is hosting the next party....Christmas Vignettes.
And Donna of Funky Junk has her weekly shindig too.
So I fiddled outside on my back porch a bit. Ok, a lot.

I had gathered some branches from the yard when the weather was still warm and sprayed them heirloom white (what else?) then stuck them in some floral foam in a pail.
They've been chillin' in the garage 'til I could work them into something dandy for the holly-days.

See?  Dandy.
Red wire-on birds: clearanced at Hobby Blobby.  White clip on doves JoAnn's.

The glitterfied pointsetta ornaments are courtesy of Wally's place, as well as the clip on fabric pointsettas.

The bird houses were Christmas crafts from last year.  Same with the ornaments.
I was into epsom salt instead of glitter.

I picked up the shabby green bench at my favorite antique shop back in the summer.
Stars were another craft from last Christmas.
White lanterns from IKEA, red lanterns from my favorite thrift shop.

Let's see....burlap and drop clothes.  Yes I'm a blogger.
BTW, the burlap is hiding huge rocks to keep my pail from blowing over in the wind.
That stuff covers a multitude of sins, I tell ya.

I won the cutie patootie banner from Tammy at Tattered and Timeless last year.

More sparkles from Wally's place.

There was a perfect dusting of snow for a backdrop today.
Nevermind my hands were numb by the time I finished.
The things we bloggers do for a good shot and a Christmas party....

And now, some artsy-fartsy shots.  Just because.

I have to tell ya, though,  my daughter told me I was a nut for doing this.
Then my hubby came home for lunch and told me it was weird.

I was kinda bummed.  I got defensive.
I told them Martha would get it, and so would fellow bloggers.

So, I ask you, dear readers:  Have I gone nuts?
Is it weird to decorate your back porch for the Christmas season?

Head on over to Rhoda's  (Dec. 2nd) to see other nutty, weird Christmas vignettes.
I know I will...just so I know I'm not alone in this decorating gig.

You *do* get it, yeah?

  6. LOVE what you did for your porch. It looks absolutely fabulous. p.s. don't pay attention to family members who are just a bit "clueless" about certain things...(I've got the same problem :)

  7. Your display looks amazing and you are so not weird. I would decorate my sunroom if I knew my puppy wouldn't wreak havoc on whatever decorations I put out there. I have one of those IKEA lanterns! Mine is ORB. I haven't hung it up since we moved into our new house eight months ago...maybe I should get around to doing that...

  35. Of course we get it. That is the real reason we all blog. We want confirmation that we are not crazy afterall.

Love the vignette. It looks marvelous (said like Billy Crystal is saying it).

And how did you get the snow fairies to give you a dusting? You need to send them to So Cal to help me out with my photos.

  39. Of course you're not nuts, Cindy! Then "I" would be nuts. Well... I started to spray paint my pine branch white. But decided, since it was so delicate and breaking easily apart, to handle it as little as possible. What you've done here is just beautiful. Your family should be thrilled you make such an effort to make their world glitterfied, beautified, bloggerfied, and any others I've forgotten!

  40. I think it looks INCREDIBLE!!! Seriously. The entire vignette looks beautiful. Love it all!!!!

  41. Dear Cindy. Please cease and desist on all of these decor projects. You are making me look bad. I now am hankering to spray paint branches, use glitter and smell the fragrance of a hot glue gun heating. I haven't the time for such shenanigans and your blog is making it hard to do things like clean house and cook meals. I thank you in advance.

  64. Oh Cindy...I love, Love, LOVE the idea of decorating your back porch!! I have one of those myself and even bought a tree to put out there, but alas, my sweet, sweet hubby needed a place to put his collectable John Deere Patio tractors (2 of em!) to bed for the winter and I caved. My plans for a festive outdoor porch were dashed. THEN...one night when I couldn't sleep..I was thinking, "Why can't I decorate my porch USING those John Deere Tractors?? After all...one is red and one is green! It's still a big ol mess out there and I don't turn the lights on after dark! Ha! Come see me!!!!
