Festifying the Front Porch.

PSSSST...I'm no longer blogging here!
You can now find me at

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Well the weather outside is frightful.  Literally.
My Gracie was 'sposed to take her drivers test today, but had to reschedule because the roads were so bad this morning.  I braved the cold and snow while the boys played outside worked on their schoolwork, finishing up my holiday decorating on the front porch.

Looking down one way.....

Looking down the t'other...

I wish I could find my old ice skates to stick somewhere.  But I *did* find this old-falling-apart-tobogan behind some crap in the garage.  Added some jute, plastic flowers and bling.  Works for me.

I got these hypocrite greens from Hobby Blobby.  I'd pick up a couple stems whenever they were 50% off starting back in the fall.  Ornaments are from the Target Dollar Spot.

These greens are the real McCoy, cut from the bottom our live tree in the house.
The red ones are plastic imposters from Hob Blob.

But they play so nicely with everyone I gave them a front row seat.  Just need to get one of those 'Merry Christmas' glitterfied signs from Wally's place to hang on the jute webbing....

Here's the back of the bench and rocker.

The planters are usually filled with whatever plant I'm currently killing in the summer.
Thankfully everything in them now is already dead.

See?  Have you ever seen such pretty dead things?

Speaking of which....fake tree #1 with plastic balls tied on with twine...

Ditto #2.  Picked up these bucketed trees at JoAnn's for $2.50 each.

Used another matching bucket I had and froufified it too....

So that's what I did today.  Well, I also primed a couple pieces of furniture inside the house.....

...and I built a cake for my favorite sophomore...my friend's son who I homeschool:

I believe I am almost done with decorating for the holidays.  Maybe.
How 'bout you?  Done?  Just starting?  Skipping it altogether?

Hey!  I popped back in to tell you Beth from The Stories of A to Z is hosting a Front Porch Linky!  Go.

  2. Aaah, Cindy. This looks beautiful.

I really love the paint colour of the outside of your house. It looks so pretty with all the reds of your decorations.

I wish I had a sled like that just 'lying around'!!! I'm wondering what other treasures you have in there!!

Hope you're having a great day.

  5. My above comment didn't make much sense. I haven't decorated too much, made a lot of holiday crafts, just not decorated.

  6. I have me the outside to finish up. I'm feeling ashamed that you braved the cold and I have been unwilling to do so... Maybe there will be a sunny spot tomorrow to help me feel more motivated. Gotta find the lights to put up with the greens...

  7. I love your front porch. It just perfect. I haven't done mine yet. It's been too cold. Hopefully tomorrow. That toboggan is so cool. I love your shutters too.

  22. Girl, you sure do know how to "do up" a porch :) It looks fabulous. The toboggan is my favorite. Wish we had snow here. It all looks beautiful. Way too hard to homeschool with all the holiday fun going on...

  24. Geez, I'm exhausted just looking at all your prettiness ~ how do you do it all? Decorated a wee bit round my front door, path and barn but looking at this I can see I have more to do... I did use my old tobogan, Grandpa's skates n sled tho. Never seem to find time (or talent) for pics either. You're amazing! Thanks (I think?) for more inspiration. ;-0

  31. Hi Cindy,
Your porch is beautiful! Love all the greens you have everywhere! You are so blessed to have a covered porch. Mine is just a pergola and the snow is covering everything.
Thank you for your message you left at my place.
I have a Canon Rebel T1i. I don't use an editing program though, except to watermark the photos (not smart enough to learn one). Thank you for your sweet compliment.
    I love your blog!

  34. So pretty! LOVE how you have the greens on your bench. And yeah... that toboggan was brilliant.

You're putting me to shame this year. I'm just doing the upstairs and then calling it quits. I think I'm more tired from the grueling photoshoots than the work itself. :)

  36. Fabulous, as always! I haven't done a thing outside, because I think it's too cold to be out there. I'm a wimpy southerner when it comes to winter. It's in the 30s here and windy, so I'm stayin' inside. You have inspired me though.

  37. LOVE your front porch!

  38. It looks gorgeous. I have never seen snow in real life, wish I could decorate with it around!

  44. Cindy, you're a decorating fool! Love all the red and browns (and naturally the upholstery webbing, of course!) How did you tie that lovely bow on the sled? I've had no luck working with that stuff and I really want to make a bow for the webbing wreath I made a few days ago. Any pointers are greatly appreciated! :)

  52. LURRVE the sleigh! And all the frou frou! Your porch is just my 'style'. I am decorating less this year and enjoying it WAY more. A tiny tree in the kitchen, a warm decor mantle in the living room. Easy peasy and just 'enough' to enjoy the season.

  55. Hi. I just found your blog from Beth's Front Porch party. It's funny b/c my house is nearly the same color. It's a 1950s bungalow. I also have that same jute ribbon. Did you get it at Hobby Lobby? Check out my house at www.handjstclair.blogspot.com. My home is on a tour this weekend and I'm about to update the pictures of all of my Christmas decor. I love your blog!!

    anyway, love your stuff! :)
