::Chalkboard Wall Valentine::

Ever since I looked at the floorplan and model for our new house, I knew I'd have me a chalkboard wall.

Even though everyone on Pinterest has one.....I still feel like they're awesomesauce.

Mine just happens to be right at the bottom of my stairs in the dining room/kitchen, so I can leave squishy love notes for my boys.

Here's the wall before:

I'll be leaving for Florida soaking up as much Vitamin D as possible before returning to the frozen tundra of NE Indiana.  I hope you spend your Valentine's Day with the ones you love.

  4. Once upon a time, long long ago before Pinterest and HGTV, I had a huge piece of fiberglass surround (poor man's white dry erase board) that I hung on the back side of our kitchen peninsula cabinets for the very same reason. Our hallway boasted a huge chalkboard ordered from a school supply company because I just couldn't stop. Where was I going with this?? Oh yeah. That was our first house, 17 years ago, and each of the 4 houses that came after that one have had some sort of "drawable" space. It kills me a little bit (a lot) to see it now be considered a "trend", but ultimately, I just have to get over my pride of not being original anymore. When I'm old and gray and die peacefully in my sleep, my friends can leave their final messages on my chalkboard _______ {fill in the blank space}, because I'll still have one.

    To NOT have transformed that perfectly located space would have been a crying shame. It belongs there.

  7. Wow, I just found your blog, and frankly I am in love. Is it okay to have a "blog crush"? I love your humor, your frankness and your style. I think I just blew a whole evening reading your blogs & looking through all the make-overs. You are so talented, and you use my favorite colors (aquas, turquoises, blues oh the robins egg! and so many more pastels). I just wanted to say thanks. Keep doing what you do, you're amazing!
