So I wrote and recorded this little diddy....

In 2005, 2 weeks before my firstborn was married, I wrote and recorded this song to be played as a surprise at their reception. Nothing like waiting till the last minute and all. *rolling eyes* I put down the guitar tracks first, then recorded the singing. We did it each part with one take because I knew the more I sang the words, the more my voice would break. *grin* It was REALLY hard to get thru it! The collage was done just before the recording, and I couldn't find just the right song so I sat down and wrote one in an afternoon.

They were definitely surprised, and it went over very well with everyone. Kleenexes were the fashion that day...I like to share it with those in the midst of diapers and runny noses and temper tantrums. It somehow puts it all into perspective. I'm not an overly religious person, but I've always felt my kids were gifts from Someone Very Good. And that the Someone knew exactly what They were doing in giving me the kids I have.

So when my son was little, I used to tell him I was so glad Jesus gave him to me....that He chose me to be his mom. I said it constantly to him. That's the foundation for this. Hope you enjoy....decorating fluff will resume sometime soon, I promise.

  1. Okay...I have to ask...is there anything that you can't do?!?!? That was amazing! And you say you're not overly religious...there's a big difference between religion and Christianity...and we can definitely tell you have your priorities straight. Your son is so blessed...and so are you!!!

  21. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent! I wrote a song for my parents once, but could never sing it to them (becuase of the tears, and because I simply can't sing!) so I had my friend sing it while I played the piano.
Your son will always treasure that special gift! Such beautiful words. Love it!

  23. OK, you have me in tears! I gave birth to 2 blue eyed boys, one who is marriied and just had his first blue eyed child (girl). I am sending this song right to him. He is in the USCG and lives far away from home, so again, this really touched me. Thanks.
PS. You have a wonderful voice :)

  24. Girl. This is seriously wonderful. Why is it that you can cry looking at pictures of people you don't even know!? These wedding collages always choke me up. You did a wonderful job on this, just as you did on him (your son), just as you do in everything you do.

I miss being little. I want to be at home with my five brothers and sisters, playing super soakers and jedi knights in the yard at Reed Rd. or Mario Kart in the basement.

You're the best mom ever for putting up with all of us at home so we could play together.

    Love you!
