Blue Monday

I killed a plant.  I know this surprises you.  But I did.  Right outside my kitchen window.  But as providence would have it, the dying plant in it's pale pink planter had the happy occasion to woo Mrs. Robin who was looking for a place to build a nest for the upcoming event.  I had front row seats to the main attraction.

She was fidget-y, knowing I was peeping out the window at her gloriousness all the time (and wondering how such a woman could be a good mother, what with all the dirty dishes in the sink).  But Mother Robin was a trooper.  Eventually we spied these:

Surely the most beautiful color in all the world.....she eventually filled her nest with 5 of these beauties.  Unfortunately, because her next was not under cover, one morning these jewels just disappeared.  I was crestfallen for awhile, but thankful at least for the few days I had of witnessing the majesty of Nature, literally right outside my window.

This has been linked to Blue Monday, my first time participating.

  3. I just love the color of robin's eggs. I find myself being drawn to this color lately. I'm glad to know that I am not the only plant killer though. My husband says I am the only one that he has ever known that can kill a silk plant. I put some fake poinsettas in the basement one year and the mice feasted. Ah well....

  4. Robin's eggs are so blue and gorgeous. I have always admired a robin so much. How sad something took the eggs. Glorious photos.

  6. I think robins' eggs are so beautiful. I always feel a little sad when I find a broken one on the ground, but hope it actually hatched and wasn't gone after by a blue jay.

  9. I couldn't close my jaw for the longest time while reading your awesome post. Beautiful, and such a special uncommon find!

Until I came to the cage lady of course. My comatose state just snapped into snickering. She kills me...

  11. The blue of a robin's egg is the bluest blue I know and so attractive to predators.
Lucky you that you had the chance to watch her on her nest and see the 5 eggs if even for just a short time.
    Happy Blue Monday

  12. You were so lucky to have witnessed the mama bird nesting. Those eggs were the most magnificent color - one of my all time favorite colors! It's sad that they were taken, nature doing it's thing...
Hope you have a wonderful week. Can't wait to hear who will win the giveaway!

  17. Your photos are beautiful. I'm so sorry, ms robin lost her eggs. We had a robin's nest on our pergola last spring and I did a few posts on my robin and her eggs. It's so thrilling to watch the progression of eggs and then the little baby birds appearing.

  21. It's amazing when a part of nature comes close, isn't it? Even if I'm just watching a squirrel out my front window, that's a moment when I'm truly being still. Thanks for sharing your moment, and thanks for visiting Life on the 'Throw!
