Big brass do-over.

I'm selling some furniture for a friend who's mama passed earlier this summer.  I picked up several things myself just as I was going thru everything with her.  I've done makeovers on most of it and will be posting before and afters in the coming days.  Anyway, my newly married (and rather broke) daughter mentioned needing some lights for their living room.  So.....I grabbed these:

Yes, I know.  But it will be ok, I promise.

As you can see, one of them is rather old, and they don't perfectly match.  No worries.  I wiped them down reeeeeaaaaalllly well, and went to work using this:

And my BFF:

I also went hunting for shades that would fit these....no easy task, let me tell you.  I finally found some at Tuesday Morning (if you don't have these 'round your parts, I pity you.)  I added some ribbon with Glenda the Glue Gun because my daughter's room is painted chocolate brown.
Here's the after!

Not too shabby I'd say.  Maybe I'll keep 'em.

I just love the ORB spray paint....next to Heirloom White (and maybe Canyon Black), nothing transforms old yukkies like it!  Do you think dd will like them?

  3. If she don't like them smack her upside the head! Those are gorgeous now. Hard to imagine they are the same lamps. When I first saw them I thought "yuck". No more yuck now. Good job and how sweet to think of her.

Those lamps went through a remarkable make-over and turned out beautiful. The shades you found went perfect with the lamp -- perfect size, shape, and color. Thank you for visiting me at my blog. You have a great spot here, and I think I'll hang around a while, if you don't mind :)
